“Despite the responsibility being ten times higher, the salaries of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia’s members are four times lower than the salary of the ‘leader’ of the Social Democrats, Tanja Fajon. And even so, during the epidemic, along with the other members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, they reduced their salaries by 30 percent. And everyone pays their bills; the SD party is the only one who has still not paid off its old debts,” the Prime Minister Janez Janša said in response to the Social Democrats’ criticism of the Minister of Agriculture, Aleksandra Pivec.
After the media affair surrounding Aleksandra Pivec’s visit to Vinakras and Izola was launched, the former State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and influential member of the Social Democrats, Martina Vuk, said that “Prime Minister Janša is responsible for the work of the government and its ministers. We expect him to clarify whether the Minister’s actions are acceptable.”
Tanja Fajon and the dominant media’s silence during the Rebernik affair tells us that we are going in the right direction
A few weeks ago, the author of this article revealed the affair of Mariana Karla Rebernik, a former long-time influential member of the Social Democrats and the director of Atotech in Podnart. Among other things, we revealed that Rebernik is the owner of a mansion worth more than a million euros and two apartments in Radovljica, an apartment in Ljubljana, and a holiday house in Poreč. According to reliable sources, the land on which the mansion grew was worth 150,000 Deutsche marks at the time.
While writing the articles, we received a hint from a reliable source that there was an alleged connection between Rebernik’s fallen empire and the financing of the SD party, which we also asked the SD party about, as we only publish reliable information. Denis Sarkič replied, writing that the assumptions we made in our questions are blatant lies, and he then threatened to use all legal means against us if that would be deemed necessary. We were quite surprised by the response, in which they threatened us with a lawsuit – why would they react so impulsively if the whole thing is actually nothing? Either way, we are glad that the Social Democrats have finally started answering our journalistic questions.
