Matjaž Kovačič, former president of the management board at NKBM, again confirmed that both former Slovenian prime minister Borut Pahor and Ljubljana mayor Zoran Janković had called him about a loan for the Stožice Stadium, and that no one else had been involved. The president of the commission of inquiry also wanted to know whether it is true that Janković had even called him at the time of the session for reaching a decision on the loan.
Members of the commission of inquiry could read in NKBM documents that many key decisions about high loans had simply been made at correspondence sessions. Kovačič defended himself, claiming that there had been 3,000 employees at the bank when he was president of the management board and that there had been a clear structure in which individual groups of employees had acted autonomously, so he had not interfered with their work. “Is it true that you had a meeting with minister of finance Križanič every Wednesday while managing NKBM?” asked Dr Logar. Matjaž Kovačič answered in the affirmative. The next question was whether this had also been happening at the time of minister Bajuk, and he answered in the negative.
