MEP Šulin attacked from all sides for pointing out that there were too many Yugoslav communist flags at state celebration

Datum:

Certain photographs circulating on social networks have put many in an uncomfortable position. The photographs show a horrible scene from Komen, where we once again witnessed primitivism in the form of red stars. The photographs undoubtedly flustered MEP Patricija Šulin, who has wondered on Twitter how to explain to colleagues in the European parliament that the photograph she published were from this year’s celebration of the annexation of the Primorska region to Slovenia?

The MEP Patricija Šulin has wondered on her Twitter profile: “How do I explain to colleagues in the European parliament that the photograph below was taken this year, at the celebration of the annexation of the Primorska region to Slovenia?” It is clear that the masquerade with red stars and Yugoslav flags put her in an uncomfortable position – as an MEP, she represents the independent and democratic country of Slovenia – not Yugoslavia, which is long gone and which caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people under the symbol of the red star. Instead of landing in the dustbin of history, totalitarian symbols keep being brought back by Yugo-nostalgics. The MEP asked a legitimate question, but the real question is how this disgrace will be explained to the democratic world by the other Slovenian MEPs, Tanja Fajon, Igor Šoltes and Ivo Vajgl.
